Safety is
the top priority for all fire deparments - safety for the firefighters, the
people they serve and the property they protect.
Most fire departments in U.S. use a process known as "fire pre-planning" to
help them increase safety when a fire or other incident arises at a
commercial/industrial facility within their jurisdiction.
A pre-plan is a report about a building or structure that contains all the
information that a firefighter or incident commander would need if an incident
were to arise at that location. The document contains information such as
building size, number of floors, how the building is constructed, what
materials were used during the construction of the building, how many occupants
are in the building typically and where any hazardous materials are located.
Fire departments send out inspectors to new buildings to capture pre-plan
information using paper forms. Each form is then photocopied and placed in a
binder in each firetruck and command vehicle. Then when a department is
en-route to an incident the firefighters will grab the binder while riding in
the truck and lookup the pre-plan to get quick understanding of the building
layout and hazards.
RealView is a company whose goal is to replace the paper pre-plan process with
an electronic process which is much more efficient and accurate. Paper
pre-plans tend to become out-of-date quickly and are difficult to update and
use. Many firetrucks today have computers system built-in - electronic
pre-plans can easily be added to those systems.
With the help of RealView, your fire department is now offering the residential
pre-plan service to you at absolutely no cost to you.
With your help, fire departments can now access fire pre-plan information
about your home and its occupants.
When you register on this site and submit a pre-plan of your home,
that information will immediately become available to the fire fighters. This
information is keep secure and is not shared with any external parties (with
the exception of other fire departments during emergencies). Please read our
Privacy Policy for more information.
